“This is a challenging academic project to produce a new perception of world history through discussions among scholars around the world. The University of Tokyo, Princeton University, École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales at Paris and Humboldt Universität zu Berlin in collaboration with the Freie Universität Berlin form the bases for creating an international network of historians interested in world and global history and the development of joint research and education programs on the methodology, interpretation, understanding and description of that history. Through this project, we would like to make available to the world Japan’s finest achievements in the humanities and social sciences.
The four institutions will prepare their own budgets for GHC activities separately. The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science will support the project at The University of Tokyo in the framework of its Core-to-Core program from April 2014 until March 2019.”
“世界の人々とともに議論し、新しい世界史認識を生み出すための挑戦的なプロジェクトです。東京大学とアメリカのプリンストン大学、フランスの社会科学高等研究院、ドイツのベルリン・フンボルト大学（ベルリン自由大学と緊密に提携）が拠点となって世界史・グローバルヒストリーに関心を持つ研究者の国際ネットワークを作り、「世界史」の解釈、理解、描き方について、共同で研究と教育のプログラムを展開します。これまで蓄積されてきた日本の人文学・社会科学の知を世界に向けて積極的に発信します。
４つの研究機関は、交流のための資金をそれぞれ準備しますが、東京大学は日本学術振興会から研究拠点形成事業（先端拠点形成型）（平成26年度～30年度）の支援を受けます。”
